May 9, 2009; Marshfield, WI: - Hot racing action made the cold weather a little more bearable as the season opener at Marshfield Motor Speedway had plenty of exciting action.

In the Culver’s Super Late Model Division, sophomore sensation Chad Selk set the early pace in his 2009 Chevrolet Impala. Selk led the first 3 laps until Chris Weinkauf made the pass exiting turn four. On lap 4, with Weinkauf and Selk setting the pace, Jeff Weinfurter looped his car in the middle of turn 1 and 2. In an attempt to avoid the spinning Weinfurter, Jason Weinkauf, Trevor Raskie, Jay VanDerGeest, and Parker May were all collected in the incident. VanDerGeest was able to continue, however, Weinkauf, Raskie, and May all sustained heavy damage to their race cars. This accident was especially tough for Weinkauf and Raskie as they spent much time at the track this spring practicing their cars, and it appeared they were looking to make their trek to the front in this super late model feature event. Thankfully, all drivers walked away from the accident!

Marshfield Motor Speedway is a half-mile asphalt oval constructed by Jim Langreck. Located in Marshfield, WI, the land the track sits on was originally purchased by Mr. Langreck in 1972. After five years of work he opened the track as a half-mile clay oval in 1977. Over the years the track emerged from humble beginnings with the addition of additional seating and parking, a food service building, a sit down eating area for families and the tracks own generator system for power.
